Short biography of Dr. Vieren
Dr. Marleen Vieren studied neurology and neurophysiology at the University Hospital of Leuven. In 1998, she started her career as a neurologist at the OLV Hospital in Aalst, where the sleep lab was founded that same year.
For more than two decades, she was a permanent member of the team, with a strong focus on sleep disorders.
In 2019, Dr. Vieren obtained the prestigious European recognition as a somnologist through the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) in Marseille. She consciously chose to fully focus on sleep medicine from then on.
In addition to her medical expertise, Dr. Vieren also delved into personal development. In 2021, she obtained the certificate of development-oriented coach from the Development Institute (HOI). She integrates this knowledge into her work, where she gives the power of conscious choice and personal growth a place in her approach.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Marleen is the mother of three young adult sons. She finds relaxation in walking, reading and creative crafts.
